Privacy Policy

MyBenchmarks is an app for recording and comparing benchmark results across your own devices. This policy describes what it does with your data. The short version: there is no account, no tracking and no server run by the developer. Your data syncs through your own iCloud account, where the developer cannot reach it.

What data the app handles

Everything you enter — device names, hardware specifications, benchmark suites, metrics and scores — is stored on your device, in the app's own local database. It is also mirrored into your personal iCloud account so it appears on your other devices; see iCloud sync below.

The app starts empty. Nothing is pre-filled: your data arrives either because you type it in or because you import a file.

iCloud sync

The app's database is synchronised through CloudKit, Apple's iCloud service, using the container iCloud.de.flibberwock.MyBenchmarks.

• The data goes into the private database of your own iCloud account. It is not a shared or public store.
• The developer cannot see it. There is no developer-operated server, no administrative access to your records, and no copy held anywhere else. What is synced is visible to you, on your devices, and to nobody else.
• Apple transports and stores it as part of iCloud, under Apple's Privacy Policy and the iCloud terms you already have with Apple, not under this policy.
• If you are not signed in to iCloud, nothing syncs. The app opens normally and works entirely on the device.

To stop syncing, turn iCloud off for MyBenchmarks in the system settings, or sign out of iCloud. Note that deleting the app does not delete the copy already in iCloud — remove that through the iCloud storage settings on your device.

What is not collected

• No analytics or usage tracking. The app contains no analytics SDK and records no telemetry.
• No crash or diagnostic reporting of its own.
• No advertising identifiers, no advertising, no third-party trackers.
• No accounts. There is no sign-up, no login, and no user profile. iCloud sync uses the Apple Account you are already signed in to.
• No third-party services. The app embeds no external SDKs.
• No developer server. The app contacts no server operated by the developer, because there is none. Its only network traffic is iCloud sync, between your device and Apple.

Nothing is collected by the developer, so there is nothing for the developer to sell, share or disclose.

Export and import

The app can export your benchmark data to a file and read one back in. Both actions are started by you, and the file goes only where you choose to put it. Once you share an exported file — by email, cloud storage or any other means — it is handled by whatever service you sent it to, under that service's own privacy policy.

Data stored on your device and in iCloud

The app's data lives in your device's app container and, when iCloud is enabled, in your iCloud account. Deleting the app removes the copy on that device but leaves the iCloud copy in place. Whether the local data is included in your device backups depends on your own iCloud or computer backup settings, which are under your control, not the app's.

Apple's role

The app is distributed through the App Store and TestFlight. Apple collects its own information about downloads, purchases and — if you have opted in to sharing diagnostics with app developers — crash reports, and Apple operates the iCloud service the app syncs through. That collection is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy, not this one. Any crash report reaching the developer through Apple contains diagnostic information only, never your benchmark data.

This website

The site at mybenchmark.flibberwock.de is a set of static pages hosted on GitHub Pages (GitHub, Inc. / GitHub B.V.).

• It sets no cookies, runs no scripts, embeds no analytics, and loads no fonts, images or other resources from third-party servers. There is nothing to consent to, which is why you are not being asked.
• Like any web host, GitHub records server log data when a page is requested — including your IP address, the time, the page, and the browser's user agent. This is processed on the legal basis of legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, in operating and securing the site. It is handled by GitHub under GitHub's Privacy Statement, and may involve transfer to servers outside the EU.
• The developer has no access to those logs and builds no profiles from them.

Children

The app is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone, regardless of age.

Your rights

Data protection law — including the GDPR, where it applies — gives you rights over personal data a company holds about you: access, correction, deletion, portability and objection. The developer holds no personal data about you, so as far as this app is concerned there is nothing to exercise these rights against. Your benchmark data stays under your direct control: you can view, change, export or delete it in the app at any time, and the synced copy lives in your own iCloud account. For the website's server logs, and for data Apple holds about you, address GitHub and Apple respectively.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this address with a new "Last updated" date. Material changes will also be noted in the app's App Store release notes.
